Description

SCARCE AND DESIRABLE!!!   WON'T LAST LONG!!
This is USGS Professional Paper 233-E,
Lower Tertiary Crinoids from Northwestern Oregon
. Published in 1953, this is a very uncommon item, and for good reason. This 33-page book discusses probably the coolest fossil location around.
This crinoid location in Oregon has produced some of the best Tertiary crinoids from any location in the US. The pictures in the book are astounding and show the kinds of fossils that have been found in this area northwest of Portland, near Vernonia. I sure wish I lived nearer to this area because it is definitely a place I would love to go fossil collecting. The eleven plates in the book show numerous photos of the specimens, which are of two different species. One of the species is newly described,
isocrinus oregonensis
which, as the name indicates, is named after Oregon.
This is a very cool publication that just might lead you to some genuinely awesome fossil specimens. Don’t miss this one!
