This listing is for a Lot of 13 pieces of Franciscan "Desert Rose" Hand Painted Ceramic Cups (3), Saucers (6) and Small Mugs (4). I do NOT have the Original box. Each piece has a raised relief finish around the exterior and edge with the green leaves and pink flowers on the smooth cream colored base.
Saucers measure 5 3/4" in diameter, bowls of the cups are 4" in diameter and the small mugs bowl diameter is about 2 3/4".
All saucers are marked Franciscan Earthenware in the Brown "TV" logo with made in USA. The cups have made in the USA and another number in brown. All Small Mugs have in illegible stamp on the bottom (see my pics).
Desert Rose began in 1941 as one of the most popular American dinnerware patterns ever. Like many Franciscan lines, Desert Rose typified a new California style of ceramics, drawing from both Spanish and Western styles.
These are
from a private local home client, they were her mother-in-laws dishes, and were found in her kitchen cabinet. These have NO condition issues. No chips, cracks, repairs or utensil scrapes. A few of the small mugs show some slight crazing on the bottom. All will need to be cleaned as they have been stored for many years.
The Pink roses, green leaves, brown twisted vine rim and handles on the cups and mugs, all on a ceramic cream base, are classic and beautiful.
